This post is the second part of a two-part series about pet insurance comparisons. It is intended to inform consumers about some of the important things to look for in puppy pet insurance policies when trying to decide which dog insurance policy is best for them.
Please be sure to read Part 1 of the series. There you will find items 1 – 3 listed. And now we will continue with items 4 – 6.
4. Double check that the dog insurance plans do not limit your choices of hospitals or veterinarians that you can take your pets to when certain situations happen. Imagine an emergency situation and because of your insurance policy, rather than taking your dog down the street to see the vet on call, you are required to visit the one across town that is covered under your policy. That would be horrendous and absolutely not acceptable!
5. Check to see if there are any waiting periods before you can actually use the insurance – or even worse, if the insurance is automatically terminated under certain circumstances – particularly due to aging.
6. Find out all you can about reimbursements. This includes timeframes and even instances of extreme cases – like if you have to cancel the policy. Find out if unearned premiums will be paid back to you.
Learning all you can about dog insurance makes you an informed consumer and that means you can make an informed decision. The result will be that your puppy will have excellent coverage and you will save money. Great dog insurance, good rates – PERFECT VALUE!!!
