Pet Insurance Comparisons – Part 1

As you begin shopping for your puppy’s insurance you will most likely discover there are vast differences in prices of the various policies available. In fact, similar policies from different companies can be greatly different in cost. So when you do your dog insurance comparison there are some things you should be sure to consider.

This post and the next are designed to help with that.

1. One of the most important things about choosing any company you deal with is finding one that is stable. Look for one that has been in business for a while. After all, pet insurance is not a new concept – it has been around for over 25 years. The integrity of the company will depend in part on how long they have been providing pet insurance. As a pet owner you are already doing the responsible thing by trying to insure that your pet will have the appropriate care needed throughout his lifetime. Insure that the policy you buy will support your efforts.

2. Explore the coverage of the insurance plans. The broader it is, the better. Ultimately you should choose the one that offers coverage for some chronic conditions like diabetes and other forms of allergies, dental situations and pet prescription drugs, as well as basic care.

3. If pet insurance companies are going to protect animals, including your precious little fur ball, they better know pets! If they are to insure pets, they must have professional veterinarians on board their staff to provide expert opinions and advice on setting up policies and all other aspects of the insurance itself. This provides expert answers and explanations to your questions and concerns about coverage or exclusions.
